The Story Behind the Drilled Water Well in Tsholotsho
Pastors Dumi, Clever Machaya and Willie Jordaan were standing under a thorn tree in Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe praying. Willie saw in a vision huge green vegetables gardens in front of him. There was a drought at this time, and everything was very dry. He mentioned what he saw to the other two pastors, and they fell on their knees worshipping God. They told Willie the church in Tsholotsho had been praying for years for a well in their village, because all people had to walk for several miles every day to get drinking water for themselves and their animals.
Once Willie returned to America, he started fundraising for a well to be drilled in the village. The next year a well was drilled and found water. Willie said this "Words could not describe the joy of the villagers. Many people and animals in the area get water now and the church is growing tremendously. Not only is the water for physical needs available, but also Living Waters flow over the souls of people."
During a recent phone call with Pastor Dumi, Willie asked him if there is another village that is in need for water. He told Willie the village next to the Hwange National Park. People have to walk far into the park to get drinking water and their lives are in danger because of wild animals. This church has been praying now for a couple of years to the Lord to provide for them water in their village. This will keep them from walking a couple of miles to get drinking water and water for livestock.
Therefore, On This Rock Church is beginning another fundraiser for a second well to be drilled. Please watch the video above and see the joy of people once they received water in their village. Any amount of gift will be helpful towards this project.
The cost is about $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 USD for the well and $2,500.00 to $3,000.00 USD water pump, solar panels, water tank and the pipes. A solar system is needed as there is not any electricity nearby.

The Water Well Project in Zimbabwe, Africa
The Eureka Well water project started soon after I visited Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe,
in March 2022. While I was there, I felt God gave me a vision of large vegetable
gardens. At that time, villagers had to walk miles to get water for themselves and
their animals. I shared this vision with Pastor Dumi Ndlovu, a local pastor and
longtime friend. After we raised enough, we returned to Zimbabwe in July 2022
and drilled the well. The project was a success, and the villagers celebrated until
3am. Their happiness was incredible. (Please see the video)
Not long after, Pastor Dumi told me about another village about 20 miles from
the first well. He had started a church there, too, and the people needed their
own water supply. Pastor Dumi encouraged them to keep praying and trust that
God would provide.
Our church in Eureka, Kansas, started raising money for a well in the second
village. We received support from local ministries, church members, friends, love
offerings, and through word of mouth.
In July 2025, I returned to Zimbabwe, and we began drilling. But the drill could not
go deeper than 50 meters because the river sand kept collapsing the hole, so we
had to stop for a while. We needed a Hammer Rig and casing for the borehole to
keep the sand from collapsing again. After many weeks of trying, the project
stalled. Some elders fell to the ground, crying out in prayer, “Why, my God, why?”
Pastor Dumi preached to the church from Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask, and it will be
given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who
knocks, the door will be opened.” He prayed for them, and I had to return to the
States.
I felt disappointed and defeated, and I did not know how to share the news with
our church. After talking to a few ranchers and farmers, since I was new to
drilling, I learned that these setbacks are common when drilling wells.
About a year later, after getting some questions for feedback about the water
well project in Zimbabwe, I felt hope in my heart again. I remembered the vision I
had under that tree in Tsholotsho, the joy of the people who received water, and
the sadness in the other village where we did not find water. I came across
Proverbs 24:16: “though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” I also
watched the videos from that trip and heard Pastor Dumi’s message: “Keep on
knocking on heaven's door, keep on praying, and keep on trusting God. He will
establish a water well in your village.”
I recently called Pastor Dumi in Zimbabwe and asked if the people in the village
were still praying and hoping for a water well. He said, “Yes, my brother, we are
still praying, and they are still trusting.”
So, where are we after a year? We have not given up, and we believe that God
still wants us to keep working. We trust that He will help us. Philippians 1:6 says,
“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to
completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
